Planting & Care Planting: The Lollipop Crabapple grows best in well-drained, mildly acidic soil. Place in a spot that receives full, unfiltered sun. When planting, dig a hole that's large enough to accommodate the root ball, place your tree inside, and backfill with soil. Water the surrounding area to settle the roots. Watering: The Lollipop Crabapple requires moderate watering. Water regularly for the first season, and then when soil is dry 3 inches down after that. Fertilizing: Add a 5-5-5 fertilizer in early spring each year. Pruning: Your Lollipop Crabapple will retain its neat shape without significant pruning. Lightly prune to shape as needed in the spring, after flowering.
