Natural stone Welsh slate Llyn Melynllyn is a fine-grain microcrystalline purple slate from Wales, combining a polishing effect with a soft and edge-friendly sharpening action. Finish Approx. 12,000 grit Designed for highly refined finishing, making it especially suitable for final honing of razors and pre-finishing of fine cutting edges. Mounting Aluminum blank The 150 × 25 × 6 mm stone is mounted on a 3 mm aluminum blank with dovetail ends and laser engraving. Performance Fine polishing with effective cutting action Compared with Brazilian and Chinese (Guanxi) slates, Llyn Melynllyn offers higher abrasive ability while maintaining the fine polishing characteristics of natural slate. Its microcrystalline structure provides controlled finishing while remaining soft enough to help protect the cutting edge. With water Fine purple slurry When used with water, the stone produces a fine purple-tinted slurry that increases abrasive action and creates a slightly coarser finish. With oil Finer polish When used with oil, the stone does not generate slurry and provides an even finer polished finish. Preparation & maintenance Ready to use Llyn Melynllyn comes ready to use straight out of the box. If flattening becomes necessary, the surface can be restored using silicon carbide powder on glass.
