Integrity (Living With Integrity) ~ Subliminal

Living With Integrity: Discovering True Self Respect — Integrity is the quality of being honest and having strong moral principles—living a life of moral uprightness. It is a personal choice to hold one's self to consistent standards. In ethics, integrity is regarded as the honesty and truthfulness or accuracy of one's actions. Discover what true self-respect feels like! Psychologist have identified seven signs that identify those who live with integrity. They are: Parents apologizing to their kids for over-punishing or yelling at them. Bosses highlighting their staffs’ accomplishments and downplaying their own. Romantic partners who boycott name-calling or other vicious behaviors. Drivers who (almost) never use the horn or drive aggressively. People in positions of power apologizing for keeping their captive audience waiting. Anyone giving another person the benefit of the doubt when the circumstances are unclear. Volunteers. (Psychology Today, 04/06/18, Seth Meyers) Clearly there are many other characteristics that could identify those who live with integrity, but these seven also illustrate common errors many people make when you invert their meaning. For example, instead of drivers who almost never use the horn or drive aggressively, drivers who are aggressive and easily annoyed by fellow drivers, resulting in excessive horn use or hand gestures and so forth. Integrity is a great concept, but while everyone admires it, most people have problems living up to it. In a world where there are so many who care only about themselves and what they can get out of life, it can just be easy to cut some corners in your own life – at least from time to time. Can you imagine what the world would be like if everyone lived with integrity? While we are not responsible for the choices others make, we are responsible for our own.
