FAQS FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS What is silymarin and what are silymarin isomers? Silymarin is the active ingredient in milk thistle that has been shown to help maintain healthy liver function and act as a powerful antioxidant.† What should I expect once I start taking it? Responses are highly individual. While you may not notice a dramatic difference immediately, many customers report an overall boost in general wellbeing, sustained daily energy, and healthy digestion over time.† Are there any side effects? In clinical trials, milk thistle has been shown to be well tolerated in recommended doses, with very few side effects reported. If you have a known allergy or medical condition, you should consult a physician before using this or any dietary supplement. How long can I take LiverSmart for? It can be taken for short-term support, but you will derive the most benefit if you take it consistently as part of your daily wellness routine How is this different from other milk thistle products? One of the main differences between LiverSmart™ and other milk thistle products is in our quality control and the processes we use to ensure that the silymarin levels are maintained and verified. We use hand-picked milk thistle seeds grown and cultivated in Europe under strict conditions, temperature-controlled pressing and cooling, and a patented process to preserve the active ingredients – and we test every batch at every step. We also combine the milk thistle with a unique formulation of 5 additional synergistic ingredients to give your liver maximum support.† Why have you used this combination of ingredients? We have combined milk thistle with dandelion root extract, artichoke leaf, yellow dock root, protease enzyme and beet root to offer what we believe to be the most powerful, multi-pronged approach to protect and support your liver.† This proprietary blend of liver-specific and antioxidant ingredients acts synergistically with milk thistle, helping to aid normal, healthy liver function and provide antioxidant support.† How much milk thistle is in each capsule? One capsule of LiverSmart™ contains 250mg of milk thistle extract, with a guaranteed 145mg of silymarin. Is LiverSmart non-GMO and free of contaminants? Yes, all ingredients in LiverSmart™ are non-GMO. We test for contaminants such as pesticide residues, solvents, mycotoxins, heavy metals, bacteria and 8 common allergens, and we publish the third party test results. This product is also vegan and free of wheat, gluten, nuts and soy. Are tinctures used for extraction? The milk thistle extract in LiverSmart™ is not a tincture but a highly concentrated extract that concentrates the silymarin isomers from the starting seed by 30 to 70 times. The seeds are crushed and placed in ethanol and ethyl acetate solvent, and the solvent is then evaporated to leave a dry product with a high content of silymarin isomers. This patented process produces a far more concentrated end product compared to tinctures. Can I use this while pregnant/breastfeeding? Pregnant or nursing mothers should consult a physician before taking this or any dietary supplement. †These statements have not been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration.
