How to Use Little Quick Fire® Hydrangea in the Landscape Add excitement to your yard with this colorful, long-lasting selection, without taking up too much room. Little Quick Fire® is a "right-sized" shrub that really pumps up your growing season and finishes strong. Repeat them all along the front edge of your mixed border. Plant them as an accent wherever you'd like some early and long-lasting color in your landscape. Create a gorgeous low floral hedge by planting several Little Quick Fire® in a row. Stagger a double row for super showy impact! Commercial landscapes love to use them in mass plantings because of the early blooming season. They rely on the extended display of flowers and smaller size. To achieve this designer look, plant them 2 feet apart on center. Measure from the center of one to the center of the next. These work beautifully as"Thrillers" in containers. Try a long series of matching containers running the length of your patio or pool deck. Or place them in containers on either side of your front door. Enjoy a pop of sophisticated style. Little Quick Fire® can be styled in many different ways. Polish up an ultra-modern look with high-end, sleek containers. Or, add rustic charm with wooden half-barrels. Of course, they make great additions to your sunny foundation plantings to achieve four-season appeal. They create a very noteworthy accent for your home in spring, summer, fall and through the winter. Leave the dried blooms on for winter interest! #ProPlantTips for Care Plant in full sun for the best blooms. If you live in warm summer climates, they do appreciate a little afternoon shade. 4 to 6 hours of direct sunlight is required. Panicle Hydrangeas need well-drained soil and won't tolerate wet feet. If you need to improve drainage, mound up by adding additional soil 18 inches high by 3 feet wide. Plant in that mound. They will appreciate a moderate amount of water on a regular basis, especially during the spring growing season. Even moisture during flower development provides the largest bloom development. This is especially important during drought. Known as a "one and done" plant, give Little Quick Fire® a single pruning in late winter or early spring just before it starts to grow. Prune back the top 1/3 of the overall size of the plant. Because Quick Fire® blooms on new wood, it's best to get that simple task done before the new growth starts. Don’t wait too long to prune, or you’ll trim off this year’s blooms! Cut back to a healthy, thick bud. Thin out any thin, broken or weak branches at the same time. You can shape them at this time if needed. The flower color cannot be altered by changing the soil pH. Just plant and enjoy! Do apply a good organic, slow-release fertilizer in late winter and again in mid-summer. Little Quick Fire® Panicle Hydrangea is hardy and fits easily into any landscape. You'll love the early blooms of this carefree, beautiful variety. Order from the expert growers at Nature Hills today!
