If you are B12 deficient and getting regular B12 injections, or you are getting weekly B12 shots to help improve metabolism and to facilitate weight loss, then you may want to give Liposomal B a try. Studies have shown that daily oral administration of well absorbed B12 can raise vitamin B12 levels. A Cochrane Collaboration Review of Oral vitamin B12 versus intramuscular vitamin B12 for vitamin B12 deficiency concluded " High oral doses of B12 (1000 mcg and 2000 mcg) were as effective as intramuscular administration in achieving hematological and neurological responses." Of course, always check with your doctor and get regular tests done to ensure your levels are always where you need them. Why a B Complex is Better There are eight individual members of the B family that are commonly referred to as B-complex: thiamine (B1), riboflavin (B2), niacin (B3), pantothenic acid (B5), pyridoxine (B6), biotin (B7), folate (B9), and cobalamin (B12). While each B vitamin has its own unique functions, they have closely interrelated functions and work together to maintain overall health. For example, vitamin B6 is required for the absorption of vitamin B12 and helps to maintain healthy levels of homocysteine in the blood. Similarly, folate works with vitamin B12 to produce red blood cells. It is important to recognize that many of the B vitamins work together; and a deficiency in one may cause another to become depleted, resulting in symptoms that do not indicate deficiency in two or more of the B vitamins. This is one reason why supplementing with a high quality, well absorbed B complex vitamin is the better way to increase your B levels and to prevent any masking of a potential deficiency. B vitamins play a crucial role in many organs and bodily systems, and are essential for maintaining good health and well-being. The B vitamins are necessary to cell health, brain function, metabolism, and the synthesis of DNA and red blood cells. They help convert carbohydrates, fats, and proteins into energy, support mitochondria and ATP creation. And, they are vital for maintaining the liver, heart and nervous system, and for giving you healthier skin, hair, and eyes. How your health will benefit w/ LIPOZOME B: Energy and Mood: B vitamins support mood by serving as partners, or “cofactors,” in the production of serotonin, dopamine, and norepinephrine. These neurotransmitters are responsible for regulating mood, sleep, appetite, and other bodily functions. B vitamins, including B12, B-6 and folate, play a role in producing brain chemicals that affect mood and other brain functions. Low levels of B-12 and other B vitamins may be linked to low energy, melancholy, irritability, changes in appetite or sleep patterns, and a loss of interest in activities. A growing body of research suggests that reduced vitamin B levels may be associated with chronic fatigue. Metabolism & Weight Management:  B vitamins play a crucial role in maintaining a healthy metabolism, which is essential for weight loss. These vitamins help your body metabolize and convert carbohydrates, proteins, and fats, into energy and to use the stored energy in food. Low levels of one or more of these vitamins can lead to a poorly functioning metabolism, making weight loss even harder. Mitochondria Health and Function:  Mitochondria are powerhouses of the cell. These tiny organelles within cells are responsible for producing energy, and they require a variety of nutrients to function properly. B vitamins are essential for mitochondrial function, as they serve as metabolic coenzymes and/or methyl donors. Vitamins B1, B2, B6, niacin, biotin, folic acid, and pantothenic acid are important for metabolic pathways in mitochondrial respiration and energy production. Vitamin B complex (biotin, methylcobalamin, methylfolate (5 MTHF), niacin, pantothenic acid, pyridoxine, riboflavin, and thiamin) can help increase mitochondrial adenosine 5’-triphosphate (ATP) production. Brain Health and Function: The B vitamins play an important role in brain health. They help in the production of neurotransmitters, cell signaling and the transfer of messages between neurons in the brain and body. Vitamin B12 is particularly important role in maintaining the health of the nervous system and brain function. It is involved in the production of myelin, a fatty substance that surrounds and protects nerve fibers, and helps to maintain the integrity of neurons. B12 is also involved in the synthesis of neurotransmitters such as serotonin and dopamine, which are important for mood regulation and cognitive function and clinical studies demonstrated that taking vitamin B12 along with vitamins B6 and folic acid/methyl folate improved brain function and reduced brain shrinkage in areas most affected by rapid cognitive decline. Liver Health and Function: The B Vitamins play a big role in supporting liver function. Studies suggest that vitamin B12 and B9 can help individuals with liver health issues related to high homocysteine levels. Homocysteine is an amino acid that your body uses to make protein. Vitamin B plays a role in breaking down homocysteine and when your body is getting enough B vitamins, homocysteine levels should be reduced in the blood. Vitamins B12 and folate (B9) may have the potential to positively impact liver health, especially when fatty infiltration of liver cells is an issue. Hearth Health and Function:  B vitamins play a crucial role in maintaining good heart health. According to a Japanese study, people who consume a diet high in B-vitamins are less likely to suffer from poor cardiovascular health. Vitamin B6, along with B12 and B9, may boost heart health by helping the body produce new red blood cells that deliver oxygen to tissues and organs, benefiting circulation. Vitamin B12 helps decrease homocysteine levels, which may support healthy heart function. And folate and vitamin B6 may help the heart by helping to maintain lower homocysteine levels. Homocysteine is an amino acid that can damage the inner lining of arteries and promote the formation of blood clots. Gut Health and Nutrient Absorption: B-complex vitamins play many important roles in your body, including supporting gut health. B vitamins help to improve microbial diversity while also helping to suppress the growth of bad bacteria in the gut. They also play a crucial role in shaping the diversity and richness of the gut microbiota. Many of the B vitamins keep our digestive systems in good working order and in general work together to produce digestive enzymes that help to break down food and facilitate nutrient absorption. Immune System Function: Vitamin B6 is vital to supporting biochemical reactions in our immune system. One of the major roles of B6 is its support of white blood cell and T-cell production. These are the cells that our body releases to fight off invaders, like viruses and bacteria. Vitamin B12 is also important for immune function. It is necessary for producing a sufficient number of red blood cells to carry oxygen around the body. A deficiency in vitamin B12 can also lead to a decrease in white blood cells that help fight off infections. If you have a folate deficiency and/or a vitamin B12 deficiency, your immune system may start to falter, and your body will struggle to ward off potentially harmful pathogens. Methylation, Cystine and Glutathione:  Methylation is a process that involves the transfer of a methyl group from one molecule to another. Vitamin B12 and S-adenosylmethionine (SAMe) are essential in regulating methionine activity, and methionine is metabolic precursor for cysteine. Most tissues are dependent on the transport and cellular uptake of cysteine for glutathione synthesis and vitamins B6 and B12 may help to raise glutathione levels by increasing the availability of cysteine, an amino acid that is a precursor to glutathione and by assisting SAMe in increasing methionine activity.
