Limestone Powder – 2 oz by Natural Earth Paint

Adjust the thickness, opacity, texture, and matte character of handmade paint with a traditional natural mineral used by artists for centuries. What Is It? Limestone Powder, also known as calcium carbonate or chalk, is a natural mineral used to extend or thicken oil paint, make gouache and gesso, strengthen egg tempera, and adjust a paint’s body, texture, opacity, or matte finish. What’s Included? One pouch of Limestone Powder with recipes printed inside the envelope. Why You’ll Love It? This simple traditional material gives you direct control over how paint handles and dries. Small additions can make paint fuller-bodied, more opaque, more textured, or more matte without requiring a premixed synthetic additive. How to Use It For oil paint, sprinkle a small amount into prepared paint and mix thoroughly before testing the consistency. Continue adding it gradually until the paint reaches the body or texture you want. For gouache, gesso, or egg tempera, follow the recipe printed inside the envelope so the Limestone Powder is combined with the correct ingredients in the correct order. The Natural Paint & Art Supplies Recipe Booklet provides additional natural paint recipes, while Natural Impasto Medium is the dedicated option for building thicker oil-paint texture. About the Finish Limestone Powder can increase body, texture, strength, and opacity or reduce sheen for a more matte appearance, depending on the paint and amount used.
