SunSparkler Lime Twister Stonecrop

SunSparkler Lime Twister Stonecrop (Sedum hybrid 'Lime Twister')SunSparkler Lime Twister Stonecrop brightens sunny beds with crisp, two-tone foliage that stays attractive for months. Its low, dense habit fills gaps quickly, helping borders and edges look finished without constant maintenance. In late summer into early fall, soft pink flower clusters rise above the foliage and draw pollinators when many plants are slowing down. With good drainage, it handles heat and dry spells well once established, making it a smart choice for waterwise landscapes. Distinctive FeaturesThis compact stonecrop forms a tidy, well-branched mat of lime green leaves edged in creamy yellow, creating high contrast even from a distance. In cooler spring and fall weather, the pale edges can take on pink to red tones, adding another seasonal layer without relying on flowers. Short stems carry clusters of small, starry pink blooms from late summer into early fall, extending color for weeks. The plant is valued for staying dense and uniform rather than splitting open, especially when grown in full sun with sharp drainage. Growing Conditions Sun: Full sun delivers the best foliage color and the most compact growth, with light shade tolerated. Soil: Plant in well-drained soil, including sandy, gravelly, or rocky sites, and avoid consistently wet conditions. Water: Water to establish, then provide dry to medium moisture, allowing soil to dry between waterings. USDA Zones: Hardy in USDA Zones 4 to 9 in typical garden conditions. Mature Size: Typically grows 4 to 6 inches tall and spreads 12 to 18 inches wide. Ideal Uses Focal Point: Use a concentrated patch as a low focal point where the lime and cream foliage can pop against stone, mulch, or darker plants. Groundcover: Mass plant to create a dense mat that fills gaps and helps suppress weeds in sunny beds. Rock and Gravel Gardens: Tuck into fast-draining sites where bold foliage contrast and drought tolerance matter. Edging: Line paths and bed fronts for a clean, low border that stays neat with minimal trimming. Containers: Plant near the rim of containers to spill slightly and add bright contrast in sunny planters. Low Maintenance Care Pruning: Shear lightly after flowering or in early spring to refresh growth and keep the mat dense. Fertilizing: Avoid heavy feeding, because lean soils support tighter growth and better foliage color. Watering: Once established, water only during extended drought to maintain vigor and bloom quality. Mulching: Use a thin gravel top-dress if desired and keep crowns from staying wet to reduce rot risk. Winter Cleanup: Remove any winter-damaged tips in early spring as new growth begins.
