LIFT (FLOATING TABLE)

The magician/mentalist/psychic/illusionist/medium/escape artist/drunken pirate/daredevil, etc., sits on a chair in front of a table. There are people all around, standing and sitting as well. You demonstrate that the table is heavy and very difficult to lift with the tip of the fingers. One of the guests sitting in front of the table tries to lift it from one end, but he can't. You plant your feet and show that nothing except your fingertips is connected to the table. Suddenly in a slow and controlled motion, the table rises up to the level of your head. It wobbles and hovers with enough grace to seem weightless. People look all around, but nothing can be found, and then it slowly descends back to the floor. You stand away, showing that nothing is attached to the table - no wires, strings, hooks, or mechanical apparatus. There is nothing except you and the table. Well, and a chair, an audience, and whatever is on the table. No gimmicks. No helpers. Just knowledge. L.I.F.T. stands for Live Impromptu Floating Table. There are no gimmicks, and it's a one-person effect with no hidden accomplices. Not every table meets the requirements for LIFT, but you'll find lots of tables out in the world that work perfectly. There are no clothing requirements, and viewing angles are fantastic. LIFT has entertained lay audiences, fooled the most knowledgeable magicians, and bewildered everyone in between. The best way to think about LIFT is like the Balducci Levitation. The secret is simple, and while there are no gimmicks, you need to make sure circumstances are right before you perform. But when circumstances are right, you'll have an impromptu miracle, and all you need is the knowledge from this book.
