Acrylic on Canvas 10" x 10" We invite you to contact us about additional works available. 212-874-6700 or sales@petermax.com A true patriot, Peter Max first painted Lady Liberty in 1976 to celebrate America's bicentennial. His love affair with Lady Liberty has continued in the decades since; as he continued to paint her in different forms and for many events and commissions. The artist has been invited to the White House by several presidents to paint her live or present his Liberty paintings for installation. Max's Liberty paintings are in the permanent collections of presidential libraries and U.S. Embassies around the world. Inspired by the fireworks reflecting off of the newly-restored Lady Liberty at the reopening celebration; the artist began a new series of 'Liberty Head' paintings with flashes, swirls and planes of bold, fauvist color painted on and around her face. Liberty's calm, steadfast expression is illuminated with joyful and celebratory, boldly-colored, textured brushwork. All sales are final and all works are sold unframed. A Certificate of Authenticity is drafted upon sale and mailed separately to the given shipping address. ©ALP, Inc.
