Planting: To help your plants thrive, provide full sun (6+ hours) or part sun (4-6 hours) in moist, well-drained soil. Space them 2 to 4 feet apart for best results. Soil pH influences flower color: expect pink blooms in alkaline soils and blue to purple blooms in acidic soils with aluminum.  In cold climates, shelter plants from harsh winds by planting on the east side of your home or near walls. In hot climates, ensure hydrangeas are shaded during the hottest part of the day for optimal health. 2. Watering: This plant has moderate to moist water needs, meaning it thrives best with a consistent level of moisture in the soil. During periods of extreme heat or drought, it may require supplemental watering to maintain optimal health and prevent stress. 3. Fertilizing: Fertilize in the spring using a controlled-release fertilizer. 4. Pruning: These hydrangeas bloom on both old and new wood. Pruning is usually unnecessary, but they can be lightly trimmed after flowering in early summer.
