Lesco Shade Grass Seed

Finally Grow Grass in Areas That Only Get 4–6 Hours of Sun. If you’ve struggled to grow grass under trees or along the shaded side of your home, you’re not alone. Most standard lawn seed blends fail in low-light conditions. This Shade Grass Seed Mix is specifically formulated to thrive in areas receiving 25–65% reduced sunlight while still performing well in sun-to-shade transition zones. Why Shade Lawns Fail Limited sunlight reduces photosynthesis Tree roots compete for water and nutrients Poor airflow increases disease pressure Standard sun mixes lack fine fescue content This blend addresses those issues directly. What’s in the Mix — and Why It Works Fine Fescues: The most shade-tolerant cool-season grasses available. They require less sunlight and less nitrogen than traditional turf types. Perennial Ryegrass: Provides faster germination and early establishment. Kentucky Bluegrass: Adds self-repair capability and improved wear tolerance over time. The result is a darker green, finer-textured lawn that performs better in filtered light conditions. Best Used For Under mature trees North-facing homes Fenced yards with partial sun Sun-to-shade transition areas Minimum recommended sunlight: 4 hours per day.
