Leonardo, Michaelangelo, and Raphael

Leonardo, Michelangelo, and Raphael form the inner pillar of the span of the artistic revolution in Italy, the Renaissance in the 15th century. In this careful investigation of these artists and their work, an arch from the Middle Ages to the final hours of the High Renaissance is made. Ernst Uehli viewed the world from a spiritual as well as from a material point of view, which gives a richer texture to this examination of the Renaissance than most. The spiritual perspective allows for consideration of rhythms in history, reincarnation in individuals, and explanations beyond the obvious. Ernst Uehli has proven to be a controversial figure in the history of Waldorf education. During the Third Reich's regime in Germany, he sought to keep schools open by aligning the philosophy of Waldorf schools with German leadership, aiming to transform things from the inside out. His brilliant work in developing spiritually-oriented teaching in Waldorf schools, preceding this time of engagement with the Third Reich, has been blocked from publication in some cases. Waldorf Publications risks translating and publishing this inspiring work focused on these three mighty figures in Renaissance Italy, to support both Waldorf seventh-grade and Waldorf high school teaching in the arts, with apologies for any offense this might incur, and to focus on the valid research the author explored as the basis for this book.
