Leica M EV1 Mirrorless Camera

A groundbreaking evolution in the legendary M-System, the Leica M EV1 is the first Leica M camera to feature an integrated electronic viewfinder (EVF)—ushering in a new era of precision, versatility, and creative freedom. Combining the timeless craftsmanship and minimalist design of the M series with cutting-edge imaging technology from the M11 line, the M EV1 delivers the same unmistakable Leica experience—now with the advantages of real-time viewing, advanced focusing tools, and digital flexibility. The First Leica M with a Built-In Electronic Viewfinder Replacing the traditional optical rangefinder, the M EV1’s 5.76-million-dot OLED EVF revolutionizes composition and focusing for M shooters. True-to-sensor viewing: See exactly what the sensor records, including exposure, depth of field, and white balance in real time. 0.76× magnification and 100% frame coverage provide a large, immersive view. Integrated diopter adjustment allows personalized comfort and accuracy. Digital zoom overlays (1.3× / 1.8×) let you preview cropped compositions directly in the EVF. The EVF transforms how you work with ultra-wide, telephoto, macro, and adapted lenses, removing traditional rangefinder limitations while preserving the familiar M-mount heritage. Advanced Focusing Tools The M EV1 introduces new focusing aids that make manual focus effortless, even with the fastest Leica lenses: Focus Peaking outlines sharp areas in bright color. Magnification Assist provides two zoom levels for pinpoint accuracy. FN Lever Button (formerly the frame-selector lever) offers quick toggling between zoom or focus-assist functions with short or long presses. Combined with real-time exposure simulation, composition grids, and a digital horizon level, the EVF delivers unmatched control and confidence in every shot. Proven M11-Series Imaging Power At its core, the Leica M EV1 shares the same class-leading imaging platform as the acclaimed M11 series. 60MP Full-Frame BSI CMOS Sensor The back-illuminated (BSI) sensor captures extraordinary detail, clarity, and tonal depth with improved high-ISO performance for low-light shooting. An ultra-thin dual-layer UV/IR filter ensures the renowned Leica color rendering and optical precision across all M lenses. Triple Resolution Technology Select 60MP, 36MP, or 18MP output—each using the full sensor area—for maximum flexibility and dynamic range (up to 15 stops). Lower resolutions utilize pixel binning for enhanced low-light performance and reduced noise without cropping. Maestro III Image Processor The fast, efficient Maestro III processor powers the M EV1’s exceptional image quality, enabling: ISO range of 64 – 50,000 for pristine color and dynamic detail. 4.5 fps continuous shooting for decisive moments. Seamless processing of large files and fast buffer clearing. Precision Exposure and Shutter Control Electronic shutter up to 1/16,000 sec for bright-light shooting with fast lenses like the Noctilux f/0.95—no ND filter required. Mechanical shutter up to 1/4000 sec with 1/180 sec flash sync. Multi-field, center-weighted, and spot metering modes adapt to your preferred exposure workflow. Long Exposure Noise Reduction and digital zoom (1.3× / 1.8×) offer creative flexibility. Authenticity and Transparency with Leica Content Credentials The M EV1 is the first M camera to integrate Content Authenticity Initiative (CAI) technology via Leica Content Credentials. Using a secure chip, each image embeds encrypted metadata—verifiable in compatible software such as Adobe Photoshop—to confirm the creator and integrity of the photo. This industry-first feature ensures trust, authenticity, and transparency in digital imagery. Streamlined, Modern Leica M Design The M EV1 retains the minimalist form that defines Leica but introduces subtle refinements: 2.95-inch, 2.3-million-dot touchscreen LCD, brighter and clearer outdoors. New diamond-pattern leatherette for a refined grip and updated look. Simplified interface and menu design aligned with the Q and SL systems for intuitive control. Live-view stabilization minimizes shake during manual focus with longer lenses. Weight reduction to 1.1 lb, making it lighter than the M11-P. The body eliminates the traditional baseplate for easier access to the BP-SCL7 lithium-ion battery and UHS-II SD card slot. Built-in 64 GB memory allows dual-storage flexibility or on-the-go backup. Connectivity and Workflow Integration USB-C port supports in-camera charging and file transfer. Includes Leica FOTOS Cable for direct iPhone connectivity and fast mobile workflow. Wi-Fi and Bluetooth enable wireless image transfer, remote control, and geotagging through the Leica FOTOS app. Apply favorites, ratings, and metadata directly from your phone for seamless cataloging.
