While Cody loved downhill and cross country skiing, he excelled at snowboarding. Met an Alaskan surfer on a heliport trip in late spring to Alyeska to do some skiing. Intrigued by the thought of surfing, he studied Voss Victoria, the renowned European river surfer. Went to Florida for a winter holiday, hooked up with Sumatra Sam who taught him the basics. Sam saw Cody was a natural, encouraged him to pursue it. Cody realized warmer weather would be even better. Moved to Siargao, where his talent did the rest. Crowds call him "Cloud 9" because he gets serious airtime. Sky is always with him, surfing or not. Mantra: “Let’s find some waves no one has ever tried (or dared) to surf!”  Home Break: Cloud 9, Quiksilver, and Jacking Horse (“where I can help teach groms to surf”)  Fave Surf Spot: Places people don’t go…north shore of Lake Superior, rivers in Europe and Alaska  Bust Out Move: Air 360 and Rodeo Flip (“hey, I was a snowboarder first—it’s a natural for me!)  Fuels up on: "Yes, I miss Alaskan King Crab, but have grown very fond of bulalo, bananas, and coconut—everything in Siargao is better with coconut or bananas in it!" Best Surf Memory: “Meeting Voss Victoria and river surfing in Europe, you can’t believe how much fun it is to surf continuously for a couple of miles!”  Best Beach Buds: Sky, Tofino Rex, Aussie Alice, Bali Bobbi, Tahiti Nikki When Not Surfing: “Looking for places worldwide that few have ever surfed and planning a trip to do it”  Advice for groms:“Don’t ever give up on your quest for success!” Born and raised in Cocoa Beach. Rarely, if ever, leaves Florida—willing to make the occasional exception for great waves elsewhere. An interesting fellow who has led quite the life having been an astronaut, pro golfer, world famous theme park critic, and hurricane chaser (who stays on to help restore affected communities). For beachgoers willing to hear him out, he has many, many stories. They never seem to be quite sure of all his exploits. Promethei Paula swears they’re all true. No one can deny, however, that Moe really was the guy behind the headline, “FLORIDA MAN SURFS WITH GATOR!”  Mantra: “Other states? What other states?” Home Break: Cocoa Beach, usually at the Pier, or First Peak at Sebastian Inlet State Park Fave Surf Spot: “Pretty much any beach in Florida, we have so many great ones!” Bust Out Move: Snap—“Just watch for my giant splash, makes Cruncher smile every time!” Fuels up on: Gator bites (“just don’t tell Cruncher!”) Best Surf Memory: “Pretty hard to top Cruncher and me on the front page everywhere!” Best Beach Buds: Cruncher, Sumatra Sam and Bali Bobbi, Promethei Paula, Jaws Justice When Not Surfing: “Telling my stories even if some beachgoers can’t believe ‘em” Advice for groms: “Make sure you get back here when (and if) you retire!” Born Justis Jeremiah Jawson to a humble shiver of sharks. Grew up a quiet pup with few thoughts of ever leaving the ocean until he saw a blue shark sporting shades surfing right above him! Realized that was none other than the legendary protector of Panama Bay, Mako P.I. Learned everything he could from his new idol. Determined to follow in his wake, took everything that he learned in school and started his own beach law practice. Styling himself as “Jaws Justice,” his firm, JJ&J Law, is now the largest and fiercest anywhere. His success gives him plenty of time to enjoy surfing all around the world, searching for great waves and his next office location. Mantra: “If court’s not in session, then surf’s in session!”  Home Break: Curly always picks a beach with a boardwalk—“can’t figure out why”  Fave Surf Spot: “Opening my next office location…on a beach, of course”  Bust Out Move: “Health code violation” Fuels up on: French fries…buckets of them, which Curly always seems to get somewhere Best Surf Memory: “Laughing when watching Curly trying to eat fries and surf (or fly) at the same time!” Best Beach Buds: Curly, Mako P.I. and G., Cocoa Moe, Supertubes Samantha, Tofino Rex When Not Surfing: Reading evidence on paper, not easy with fins or in the surf (“go ahead, you try it”) Advice for groms: “Don’t litter, Curly and I will find you and bring you to justice!” Born Atlantis. Her sister Luna inspired her to head out on her own. Quickly met her true love—surfing, but had much trouble figuring out how to use a surfboard given her tail and fins. Like her sister, Luna, eventually settled on longboards as her preference. Now on a quest to prove fins and tails are no obstacle to radical surfing. Longed for a companion like her sister Luna’s Astra. As luck would have it, found Crystal when trying to find Astra to seek advice on finding a surfing partner. Unknown to Pearl, her long-time admirer, Crystal, joined her pronto and has been of great use in navigating this strange human world. Mantra: “Don’t let your fins stand in your way!” Home Break: Atlantis Fave Surf Spot: Pipeline, we’re just a bit better at bigger waves than Luna and Astra Bust Out Move: Tail slide, of course Fuels up on: Seaweed and clam cakes, which Crystal always seems to find somewhere Best Surf Memory: Surfing with Luna and Astra, how cool is it to have two mermaids and two  unicorns out surfing together? Best Beach Buds: Laguna Luna and Astra, H2O, Hanalei Harry, Jaws Justice When Not Surfing: “We’re trying to figure out how to play golf, seems a bit challenging for us” Advice for groms: “Never forget where you came from, it keeps you well-grounded, even in the surf!” Born Cocoa Beach, daughter of Sumatra Sam and Bali Bobbi. With Sam and Bobbi as parents, was surfing before she could walk. Quickly conquered the waves on Florida’s east coast. Wanted more. Convinced her Mom to let her head to the west coast and live with Surf City Sally. While Sally nicknamed her after Supertubes, found she still wanted more. A mother daughter trip to J-Bay, with a side trip to Supertubos in Portugal, sealed her love of big waves. Swell is her constant companion and helps her scout the waters. Her life’s mission is to set the record for the tallest wave ever surfed. Knows it will likely be at Nazaré; still working her way up to it.  Mantra: “Keep on surfin’!” Home Break: Cocoa Beach—“love helping Mom and Dad with their groms whenever I can” Fave Surf Spot: So far, Supertubes in Australia, Supertubos, and J-Bay Bust Out Move: Tubing through a green room, although that won’t happen at Nazaré Fuels up on: “I love a great salad, especially one with fruit; my weakness is still ice cream” Best Surf Memory: “J-Bay and Supertubos with my Mom!” Best Beach Buds: Sumatra Sam, Bali Bobbi, Rincon Rex, Jaws Justice, and Donegan Doolin When Not Surfing: “Studying every video I can find of Nazaré” Advice for groms: “You’ll never regret learning to surf—connects you with the ocean forever!” Born Tahiti. Traces her family all the way back to the very first surfers. Legend has it that those surfers learned to surf from a strange green dinosaur. Of course, sightings in recent years of two dinosaurs surfing make the legend very believable. Caught up with Rincon Rex and Santa Cruz. Never thought a cat, okay saber tooth tiger, but still cat-like, would surf. Opened Nikki’s eyes to the possibility of finding a surfing cat. Loved videography as a youngster. One day, found Meowi wandering near the water’s edge in Māhina. Quickly adopted Meowi. Quickly helped her combine both of her passions into one spectacular video and made Meowi a social media sensation!  Mantra: “How can anyone sleep 22 hours? We’ll miss all the great waves!” Home Break: Teahupo’o Fave Surf Spot: Teahupo’o naturally, but also loves Paparā and Māhina Bust Out Move: ”Meowi’s Hang Eight” Fuels up on: "Tahiti is the best place for coconut lovers and I love ‘Uru, Po’e, and Firi Firi” Best Surf Memory: “Videos of Meowi and me—yes, cats can love the water and surfing” Best Beach Buds: Cloud 9 Cody, Hossegor Hank, Aussie Alice, Tofino Rex and Coral When Not Surfing: Taking in the beauty of Tahiti—"spots like Fa'aruma'i and Tahiti’s many beaches are simply breathtaking and give us unbelievably beautiful material for our posts” Advice for groms: “Enjoy surfing, but stop along the way to enjoy (and preserve) the natural beauty of our beaches and lands!” Born millions of years ago in what would later be known as Tofino. A popular professor at Dino U., taught courses in meteorology. Everything changed with the Ice Age, which he failed to predict costing him his tenure. Forced him to take up new hobbies…ice surfing, ice fishing, ice sculpting—there wasn’t much else to do, though he did find time to invent ice cream! When the Ice Age finally ended, set out on a quest to find his cousin Rincon. Encountered some humans but they ran from him in awe of his larger size. Befriended a turtle when Coral crawled onto his surfboard and refused to ever leave. An inseparable pair, they surf everywhere, but dislike cold water…wonder why? Mantra:“Can we find some warmer water, please!” Home Break: Rincon, “but I don’t understand why I never see Rincon Rex there, I thought it was named after him!” Fave Surf Spot: Nosara, Popoyo, Rincon, and Siargao—“they’re all the warmest I’ve found” Bust Out Move: “It’s not a move, but I love standing on my tippy toes on my board” Fuels up on: “I’ve come to love seaweed; French fries whenever we see Curly” Best Surf Memory: “Leaving the Ice Age behind!” Best Beach Buds: Coral, Tahiti Nikki, Cloud 9 Cody, Jaws Justice and Curly When Not Surfing: Watching people on TV trying to predict weather Advice for groms: “Leave the turtles alone, the beach is theirs and yours to share together” Award-winning surfing toy Harnesses the energy of the surf—no batteries or wind-up required Just toss your Surfer Dudes into the waves and watch them surf!
