LEAF LARD

Leaf Lard One 5lb pack Humanely raised on pasture  100% antibiotic free Raised by independent family farmers Heritage pork has more marbling resulting in more tender and juicy meat  Leaf lard is not as “porky” as other pig fats and is a perfect medium to cook anything that doesn’t have a meaty flavor — it has a high smoking point and is perfect for deep frying pastries. Leaf lard is also cherished by bakers to create pie crusts with the ultimate in mouth-watering, flaky consistency, and deep country flavor. Also leaf lard is great for baking, we call it the Crisco that your grandmama used. Heritage breeds are known for their decadent fat, this is where the flavor is. When cooking with leaf lard it's essential to use breeds that are known to excel in producing it. The secret to all great cooking is to start off with great ingredients, and nothing beats our supremely marbled, storied Heritage breeds — Berkshire, Red Wattle, Duroc, Gloucestershire Old Spot, Large Black, and Tamworth. Each breed comes from a different culinary tradition, and boasts a distinctive, nuanced flavor.
