Life LC-11 Replacement Filter #2 – Vitamin C + KDF Purification

Protect Your Reputation with Superior Contaminant Removal Filter #1 catches the particles. Filter #2 catches everything else—the invisible chemical and biological contaminants that determine whether your commercial ionizer produces truly pure, healthy alkaline water or merely expensive tap water with a pH adjustment. This is where water quality is won or lost, where customer trust is built or broken. The LC-11 Filter #2 represents the most advanced multi-stage purification technology available for commercial ionizers. Three distinct filtration mechanisms work in sequence: Vitamin C Ceramic Block® technology neutralizes the chloramines that defeat standard carbon filters; high-grade activated carbon removes residual chlorine, bacteria, and organic compounds; and KDF media reduces heavy metals and volatile organic chemicals to nearly untraceable levels. The result is water so clean that your ionizer can perform exactly as designed—producing the strong pH values, high ORP readings, and pure taste that justify your investment in commercial alkaline water equipment. The Chloramine Challenge: Why Standard Filters Fail Here's a fact that surprises many commercial operators: if your municipal water supply uses chloramines for disinfection (and most major cities now do), standard activated carbon filters provide almost no protection. Chlorine? Easy. Carbon catches it efficiently. But chloramines—the combination of chlorine and ammonia that water utilities prefer for its stability—pass straight through. Why does this matter? Chloramines are effective disinfectants, which is exactly why they persist through your plumbing. They're still actively killing microorganisms when they reach your ionizer. That antimicrobial action doesn't distinguish between harmful bacteria and your employees' gut microbiomes. It doesn't recognize that some of your customers are pregnant, immunocompromised, or particularly sensitive to chemical residues. Chloramines in your alkaline water undermine the very health benefits your customers are seeking. The Vitamin C Ceramic Block® in Filter #2 solves this problem through chemistry, not just filtration. Vitamin C (ascorbic acid) reacts with chloramines on contact, instantly converting them into harmless chloride ions and organic nitrogen compounds. It's not trapping chloramines in a filter matrix where they might eventually release—it's destroying them completely. What enters the filter as chloramine exits as compounds your body processes naturally. Triple-Technology Protection: How Each Layer Works Layer 1 – Sediment Pre-Filter: Even though Filter #1 handles primary sediment removal, Filter #2 includes its own thin sediment barrier as redundant protection. Any particles that somehow passed through Filter #1—or that developed between the filters—are caught here before reaching the specialized media below. Layer 2 – Vitamin C Ceramic Block® + Activated Carbon: This is where chemical purification happens. The Vitamin C component neutralizes chloramines through redox reaction, while simultaneously acting as a powerful antioxidant that helps preserve the beneficial properties of ionized water. The activated carbon matrix (made from high-quality coconut shell) provides massive surface area for adsorption—each gram contains thousands of square meters of microscopic pores that trap chlorine, organic chemicals, pesticide residues, pharmaceutical traces, and many common bacteria. Layer 3 – KDF (Kinetic Degradation Fluxion) Media: The final stage uses KDF-55, a high-purity alloy of copper and zinc. When water contacts KDF media, an electrochemical reaction occurs: the zinc oxidizes, releasing electrons that reduce heavy metal ions from their dissolved state into insoluble forms that plate onto the media surface. Lead, mercury, copper, nickel, cadmium, chromium—the heavy metals that accumulate from aging plumbing, industrial contamination, or natural mineral deposits—are reduced to nearly untraceable levels. KDF also provides bacteriostatic protection: the copper-zinc environment inhibits bacterial growth within the filter itself, preventing the filter from becoming a contamination source as it ages. What Filter #2 Removes and Reduces: Chloramines: Completely neutralized by Vitamin C reaction—not just reduced Chlorine: Residual free chlorine captured by carbon adsorption Heavy Metals: Lead, mercury, copper, nickel, cadmium, and chromium reduced to near-undetectable levels Volatile Organic Chemicals (VOCs): Industrial solvents, fuel additives, and chemical pollutants Bacteria and Microorganisms: Many common waterborne pathogens trapped in carbon matrix Pesticides and Herbicides: Agricultural chemical residues from watershed contamination Pharmaceutical Traces: Many common medication residues that survive wastewater treatment Taste and Odor Compounds: Musty, earthy, or chemical tastes eliminated Why Heavy Metals Matter in Commercial Settings Commercial buildings often contain plumbing that residential homes don't have—extensive copper pipe networks, older galvanized sections, lead solder in joints (legal until 1986), and brass fixtures containing lead. Every time water sits in these pipes overnight, metal ions leach into solution. First-draw water in commercial buildings can contain heavy metal levels far exceeding residential norms. Your customers trust that premium alkaline water from your establishment is healthier than tap water. If that water contains elevated lead, copper, or other heavy metals, you're violating that trust—even if the contamination is invisible and tasteless. The KDF media in Filter #2 provides comprehensive heavy metal protection that justifies customer confidence. Commercial Replacement Guidelines Filter #2 handles chemical removal, which means its capacity depends more on contaminant load than water volume. However, commercial volumes still matter: Standard Chloramine Water: Every 6-8 months for most commercial applications High Chloramine/High Volume: Every 4-6 months if processing 100+ gallons daily Known Heavy Metal Issues: Every 4-6 months if building plumbing is older Industrial/Agricultural Areas: Every 4-6 months due to higher VOC and pesticide loads Chemical Taste Returns: Replace immediately—Vitamin C capacity exhausted The Complete LC-11 Protection System Filter #2 is designed to work as part of a complete protection system: Filter #1 catches physical sediment, protecting Filter #2 from premature clogging Filter #2 removes chemical and biological contaminants, delivering purified water to the chamber Citric Acid Cleaning Cartridge removes scale that accumulates even with excellent filtration Maintain all three components on schedule, and your LC-11 will deliver consistent, pure, healthy alkaline water for years to come.
