Large Patterned Bowl with 24k Gold

Large Patterned Bowl with 24k Gold 18" diameter x 7.25"h Funny how what you set out for and what you end up with can be so different.  When I was first designing this pattern, I was looking for a wood grain.  I took sawed branches of different sizes and stamped it in the clay, but unfortunately, when you saw wood, there is no texture! I ended up with a bowl with flat disks. I then made 4 different stamps of different sizes in clay, where I carved linear textures.   It no longer reads as wood, but I like it none the less!  In full disclose, the bowl is not perfectly round, but it's close, and i think that adds to the charm. All of these art pieces are one of kind, and made by me in my Great Barrington studio.  They are also already sold!  If you are interested on one of these, I can make something similar, but it will never be exact.  Please contact us at info@michaelwainwright.com, or call 413-717-4211 ext. 2#.
