How to Walk a Dog that Suffers from Anxiety   All dogs, small or large breeds, can suffer from anxiety. If you have a dog that suffers from anxiety, you may think you can’t enjoy walks together. However, daily walks are especially important for your dog! The Pet Pawsabilities™ Large Dog Harness will keep your dog comfortable and give you the needed control when walking your anxious pup. Allowing a dog to pull in any direction rewards their pulling behavior and keeps them in a high arousal state. Our no-pull harness applies minimal pressure to your dog’s center of gravity, safely stopping common pulling and lunging behaviors when walking. Paired with the right techniques and positive reinforcement, your dog can overcome their anxious tendencies! Choosing a Route To keep your dog comfortable and calm, choose a predictable walk. Walk your dog along the same route, keeping the walk short and stress-free. The quieter the route, the better.   Positive Reinforcement It might be difficult for your pet to eat when in a state of fear, but it’s important to encourage your pup to enjoy their favorite treat along the way. Bring a high-reward treat that your dog can’t resist! If your dog doesn’t want to eat during the walk, start by giving a treat when putting their harness on and when returning home. Because licking is soothing to dogs, a lickable treat is best. Don’t forget to cheer your good dog on with verbal praise and lots of pets! We are committed to providing customers high-quality products and the best shopping experiences.
