Large Copper Port Nelson Gag

The Large Copper Port Nelson Gag Bit features a copper mouthpiece with a port that sits above the tongue and engages the palate when rein pressure is applied. This encourages proper head elevation and discourages leaning or heavy contact. Nelson gag cheekpieces provide lateral support and encourage head elevation while maintaining a stable connection. Ideal for experienced riders working with well-trained horses that respond to palate engagement and benefit from the natural salivation promoted by copper. Key Features of the Large Copper Port Mouthpiece : Palate Engagement : The large port sits above the tongue and makes contact with the palate when reins are engaged, encouraging the horse to elevate its head. Suitable only for well-trained horses and experienced riders. Tongue clearance : The port provides space for the tongue, helping prevent the horse from getting its tongue over the bit and allowing a more natural mouth position. Copper Material : The copper encourages salivation, keeping the mouth moister and more responsive, which supports softer, attentive contact. Nelson Gag Design Features : Added Lift and Stability : The gag action applies upward pressure, encouraging the horse to lift its head, making it ideal for horses that tend to lean on the bit. Full Cheek Control : The full cheek design prevents the bit from sliding through the horse’s mouth, providing lateral stability and better guidance, especially during turns. Dual Rein Option : The Nelson Gag can be used with two reins, allowing riders to adjust between the gag and snaffle rein for more refined communication and flexibility.
