Laredo Texas Sage Shrub

A striking, low-water landscape solution The Laredo Shrub is a resilient evergreen that stands out with its soft silvery-gray leaves, complemented by vibrant lavender-purple flowers that emerge after summer rains. Reaching heights of 5-6 feet, it is perfectly suited for the warmer climates of USDA zones 8-11, making it an ideal choice for Texas gardens and other hot, dry areas. This shrub not only provides eye-catching color throughout the blooming seasons but also maintains its beautiful natural shape with minimal pruning – an attractive feature for busy homeowners. In addition to its aesthetic appeal, the Laredo Shrub serves as a low-maintenance hero for urban landscapes. While other plants may struggle to thrive in challenging conditions, this tough species flourishes. It reliably blooms from spring through fall and stands up well to both drought and urban challenges, making it an effortless addition to any garden in need of durability and charm. Planting & Care 1. Planting: Plant or repot within 4 weeks of arrival. Ensure the site receives full sun and has well-draining soil. Dig a hole twice as wide as the root ball and just deep enough to cover the roots. Place the shrub gently in the hole, backfilling with soil and watering thoroughly. 2. Watering: Allow the soil to dry out between waterings, as this shrub is drought-tolerant once established. During the initial planting period, provide consistent moisture until it’s well-rooted. This low-water plant is perfect for conserving resources in your garden. 3. Pruning: Minimal pruning is required, but you can shape the plant lightly after blooming if desired. Remove any dead or damaged foliage to promote healthy growth. Avoid heavy pruning unless necessary, to maintain its natural form. 4. Fertilizing: Fertilize lightly in early spring with a balanced, slow-release fertilizer. Over-fertilizing can lead to excessive foliage at the expense of blooms, so stick to a moderate approach for best results.
