Larceny Barrel Proof Wheated Bourbon – Batch C924

Bobby Says: Larceny Barrel Proof has become one of those bottles that bourbon fans circle on the calendar every year. While the standard Larceny is an easy-drinking everyday wheater, the Barrel Proof batches show just how much depth and intensity that same wheated mashbill can deliver when it's left uncut and unfiltered. Every release has its own personality, and that's what makes comparing the batches so much fun. They aren't trying to make every bottle taste identical. They're letting each batch tell its own story. This Batch C924 comes in at a hefty 125.1 proof (62.55% ABV), and it wears that proof incredibly well. Right away I get rich caramel, vanilla bean, toasted oak, and warm cinnamon on the nose. The palate is loaded with brown sugar, toffee, dark honey, baking spices, roasted nuts, and ripe stone fruit, all wrapped in the soft, rounded sweetness that makes wheated bourbons so enjoyable. The finish is long, warming, and full of oak, vanilla, and lingering spice without becoming overly hot. This is exactly why Larceny Barrel Proof has earned such a loyal following. It's big, bold, and flavorful, yet still remarkably balanced. If you're looking for a barrel-proof bourbon that delivers power without sacrificing drinkability, Batch C924 is one I think you'll remember.
