Laker

The Laker ice rod is a 48" heavy weight fiberglass casting rod designed for big predatory fish. The inspiration for this rod came from the demand from anglers who have a passion for chasing world class lake trout on Flaming Gorge Reservoir where fish can be upwards of 50 pounds. We built the Laker casting rod with a spiral guide wrap because this method will significantly reduce torque-twist on the tip-top guide of the rod. During hook sets and battles with big fish, our design will relieve stress on the guides and minimize wear on the upper portion of the rod. This rod has a moderate action which provides enough strength for big baits - as big as 4 oz. - while still providing the sensitivity to detect soft bites, which big lakers are notorious for.  Anglers often lose fish because lakers will head shake and roll when they get close to the hole. This behavior causes slack line and creates a release in line tension helping the hook pop free. The moderate action our Laker fiberglass rod will give you much needed play in the rod and absorb the head shakes and rolls exhibited by lakers when they get close to the hole. Hopefully, compensating for the in the slack line and helping you land more big fish. 48" Fiberglass Heavy Blank Spiral guide wrap Moderate Action (semi-slow tip and extended strong backbone) Fuji Guides and Graphite Alps Spinning Reel Seat EVA Foam Rod Grips
