Labradorite Turtle Carving

Labradorite is a feldspar mineral (a plagioclase) known for its labradorescence — flashes of teal and blue that shift across its grey surface as the light changes. This hand-carved labradorite turtle stands about 2" long, polished into a rounded shell with a detailed head, the flash rippling across the carved shell as it catches the light. Quick facts Stone Labradorite turtle carving, approx. 2" Composition Plagioclase feldspar Hardness Mohs 6–6.5 Color Grey base with teal-blue flash (labradorescence) Chakra Third Eye / Crown Traditionally used for Intuition, transformation, steadiness Care Brief water contact is fine; avoid prolonged soaking and harsh chemicals Meaning & history In crystal tradition, labradorite is considered a stone of intuition and inner transformation, often linked to the Third Eye chakra. The turtle carved into the stone carries its own symbolism across many cultures — steadiness, longevity, and protection, an animal that carries its home with it wherever it goes. Together, the stone and the form suit a slow, grounded kind of display piece — see more crystal carvings or browse stones for balance and wellness. Pair it with our Labradorite Moon Pendant for a wearable companion in the same flashing stone. How to use it Most people keep the turtle somewhere it will catch the light regularly — a desk, a windowsill, or a bookshelf. Its steady, grounded form makes it a popular choice for a meditation space or a spot meant to feel calm and settled. Others simply enjoy picking it up to turn it slowly and watch the flash move across the shell. Care & cleansing Labradorite sits at roughly 6–6.5 on the Mohs hardness scale, sturdy enough for everyday display. Brief rinsing under running water is generally fine, but avoid prolonged soaking, saltwater, and harsh household chemicals, which can dull the polished surface over time. Dry the carving with a soft cloth and dust it gently as needed. If you prefer to cleanse energetically, smoke, moonlight, or sound are common gentle alternatives. Frequently asked questions What is a labradorite turtle carving? It is a hand-carved turtle figure cut from natural labradorite, a feldspar mineral, polished to reveal the stone's flash. This is a decorative and symbolic piece, not a health product or medical device. Why does the carving flash different colors? The effect is called labradorescence, caused by light interacting with thin internal layers in the stone, producing shifting blue and teal as the angle changes. What does the turtle symbolize? Across many cultures the turtle represents steadiness, longevity, and protection, often chosen as a calming, grounded symbol for the home. Where should I display my labradorite turtle? Anywhere it catches natural light works well — a desk, shelf, or windowsill are popular choices that let the flash show throughout the day. Will my turtle look exactly like the photo? No two carvings are identical. Flash intensity, color tones, and the exact character of the carving vary naturally from piece to piece. Is labradorite safe to clean with water? Brief rinsing is generally fine given its Mohs 6–6.5 hardness, but avoid prolonged soaking and harsh chemicals, and dry it with a soft cloth afterward.
