La Spinetta 2024 Langhe Nebbiolo

A beautifully composed and accessible expression of Nebbiolo from Piedmont’s Langhe hills, the 2024 La Spinetta Langhe Nebbiolo delivers bright red fruit, fine tannins, and lifted aromatics with remarkable balance and purity. Elegant without being austere, it bridges youthful vibrancy and classic Nebbiolo structure—an engaging wine for both near-term enjoyment and short-term evolution. Origins & Craftsmanship Produced by La Spinetta, a revered Italian estate known for its meticulous vineyard work and expressive Piedmont wines, the 2024 Langhe Nebbiolo is sourced from hillside sites in the Langhe zone. These locations benefit from calcareous clay and limestone soils, optimal drainage, and cool nighttime temperatures that preserve acidity and elevate aromatic intensity—ideal for Nebbiolo’s delicate phenolic ripeness. The 2024 harvest was picked at optimal maturity and vinified with careful attention to textural finesse. Fermentation took place in temperature-controlled vessels to preserve fresh fruit and floral nuance, followed by gentle maceration to extract fine tannins and color. Aging was carried out primarily in large neutral oak casks, allowing structural integration without imparting overt oak character. The result is a Nebbiolo that showcases purity of fruit, nimble acidity, and seamless texture—a classic example of Langhe Nebbiolo charm. Critics Reviews Wine Enthusiast awards the 2024 Langhe Nebbiolo 92 points, noting its “lively red cherry and raspberry core framed by fine, silky tannins and refreshing acidity,” and highlighting its “immediate appeal as well as solid structure for short-term cellaring.” James Suckling scores this release 93 points, praising its “perfumed rose petal, cranberry, and pomegranate aromatics,” and describing the palate as “fresh, balanced, and refined with a lingering, elegant finish.” Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate gives the wine 91+ points, observing its “clear varietal expression, purity of fruit, and excellent definition,” and noting that “the 2024 vintage displays clarity and accessible Nebbiolo charm.” Critics consistently echo a theme of balanced fruit intensity, elevated aromatics, and fine-grained tannin structure—hallmarks of expressive Langhe Nebbiolo.
