La Que Sabe

She Who Knows. In Clarissa Pinkola Estés' Women Who Run With the Wolves, La Que Sabe is not a character in a single story — she is the presence beneath all of them. The deep instinctual intelligence that predates language and operates below the level of reason. Estés argues that this knowing is not acquired — it is recovered. Most women spend a significant portion of their lives reclaiming it and learning to trust it. La Que Sabe is a statement necklace in deep navy and white — large carved wood barrel beads, milk quartz, navy geometric wood forms, etched silver rondelles, and a substantial vintage crescent pendant in oxidized silver-tone with a mother of pearl inset. Lightweight despite its visual presence. Adjustable length. Finished in sterling silver findings. Matching earrings available — shop the La Que Sabe earrings here. The Materials Carved wood barrel beads — large, deep navy, each ringed with horizontal ridges carved around the circumference — are the backbone of the piece. Bold and deliberate, they read from across a room. Navy geometric wood beads — smaller, faceted — move between the barrels as connective forms, keeping the palette unified without interrupting the rhythm of the larger beads. Milk quartz brings the white. Opaque and still, it is associated with calm and inner reflection — the counterpoint to the bold geometry of the navy wood. Etched silver rondelles punctuate the strand at intervals — cool, crisp, a precise pause between the bold navy and the quiet white. The pendant is the reason for the piece. The crescent itself is a found vintage element — oxidized silver-tone, dense with scrollwork: arabesques, geometric borders, layered ornament that rewards a close look. The suspension is original: a decorative bar with two fine chains, designed and constructed to give the crescent the presence and framing it deserved. At the center of the crescent sits a smooth arc of mother of pearl. Across cultures and centuries, mother of pearl has been associated with intuition and feminine wisdom — the deep instinctual signal of potential depth or danger. It is also, literally, a material built by accumulation — layer by microscopically thin layer, over months or years, until the iridescence emerges. There is no shortcut to it. That is the metaphor, and it is the right one for a piece named for La Que Sabe.
