Glutamine is the most abundant amino acid (building block of protein) in the body. The body can usually make enough glutamine for its regular needs. But during times of extreme stress (the kind you experience after heavy exercise, intestinal conditions or an injury), your body may need more glutamine than it can make. Most glutamine is stored in muscles, followed by the lungs where much of the glutamine is made. Glutamine is important for removing excess ammonia (a common waste product in the body). It also helps your immune system function and may be needed for normal brain function and digestion. Certain conditions, including stress, can lower glutamine levels. In these cases, taking a glutamine supplement may be helpful.  (IBD/IBS, GERD, Leaky Gut, UC, Crohns) Glutamine helps protect the lining of the gastrointestinal tract known as the mucosa. For that reason, some researchers believe that people who have IBD (ulcerative colitis and Crohn disease) may not have enough glutamine. L-glutamine may help support the gut microbiome and modulate inflammation, as well as help strengthen the gut wall, potentially helping with leaky gut and improving the symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome. Intestinal Health Regulation Glutamine’s immune system support is closely related to its activity in our intestines. The amino acid helps maintain your intestinal lining, ensuring your body absorbs the nutrients it needs — supporting good health and protecting against serious problems like leaky gut syndrome.  Our gut is the largest organ in the immune system, which is why some scientists believe that glutamine may support better immunity. There’s evidence that glutamine supplements may also benefit people with gut conditions, like Crohn’s disease, celiac disease, and gut inflammation.  L-Glutamine supports the relief of Bloating, Cramping in the abdomen, constipation, diarrhea and severe upset stomach
