Kuhi-O Trunks (Off White)

This is a reproduction of the “Kuhio Hawaii Team Trunks” manufactured by “Take,” a local Hawaiian brand that dominated the 40s to 60s. These trunks are representative of the 50s with a simple design featuring a button fly, change pocket, and trimming tape on both sides. If you look at photos and videos from that time, you'll see that everyone was wearing the navy blue with red and white stripes. The people wearing them were Joe Quigg, Buzzy Trent, Peter Cole, Rick Gregg, George Downing, and Bud Browne. I don't think I need to explain, but they were all the greatest! What's interesting here is that in a shot of Jock Sutherland at Pipeline taken by Art Brewer in 1969, Jock is wearing these trunks with green and white stripes on khaki. Although everything changed radically during the decade (1959-1969), fashion in the water in Hawaii remained the same. Is this how tradition is born? This season, the trunks have been made deeper to fit closer to the original. Pre-washed so there will be no shrinkage after washing. Shell: 100% Cotton Rayon middy braid on both sides Urea Button Pre-washed 29, 30, 31, 32, 33, 34, 35, 36, 38, 40" Made in the U.S.A.
