Knee Deep Dahlia

Knee Deep produces striking 5-inch lavender blooms on a robust cactus-form dahlia reaching 5 feet in height. This variety delivers substantial, intricately petaled flowers ideal for cutting and garden display. The tall, sturdy growth habit makes it an excellent choice for back-border placement or as a focal point in dahlia collections. Expect reliable performance and prolific blooming throughout the season. How To Plant Dahlias To get your dahlias started, pick a sunny spot with soil that drains well. Dig a hole, lay the tuber flat, and cover it with soil about 3 inches deep. Hold off on watering for now. Once you spot some sprouts and a few leaves, it’s time to water, but keep it gentle to prevent root rot. It’s a smart  to put the stake next to the tuber at the same time of planting, so you don’t accidentally damage it later on. As the season goes on, give your dahlias some love with fertilizer and insect sprays to help them bloom beautifully and grow strong. In the fall, dig up the roots and store them over winter.
