Syracuse and Latham, New York: Syracuse Cultural Workers and Kitchen Table: Women of Color Press, (n. d.), circa 1993. 23 x 23 inches. Broadside, printed in full color. Light wear to edges; slight curl from having been rolled; light evidence to verso of having been hung using poster putty. Very Good. Memorial broadside for Audre Lorde, illustrated with a photographic image of her taken at the groundbreaking conference, “I Am Your Sister: Forging Global Connections Across Differences. A Celebratory Conference Honoring Audre Lorde and Her Work,” held in Boston from October 5-8, 1990. Over 1200 participants from 23 nations attended the conference at Tremont Temple (Friday and Saturday) and MIT (Sunday), at which they not only honored Lorde with ceremonies, poems, speeches, music and other performance art, but sought to put her words into practice. The full text is a quote from Lorde, and reads, “When I dare to be powerful – to use my strength in the service of my vision, then it becomes less and less important whether I am afraid.” OCLC locates one holding, at the University of Arizona. Also held in the Barbara Smith Papers at the Schlesinger.
