Kimono Dining Table - Oak

The Woud Kimono Dining Table takes its cues from traditional Japanese woodworking, where every joint matters and there's no hiding sloppy construction behind veneers or hardware. Designer Magnus Pettersen has channeled that philosophy into this oak table where you can actually see how it's built - the joinery becomes part of the aesthetic rather than something to disguise. The name "Kimono" fits because there's this elegance in the way the pieces come together, like fabric being precisely folded and fitted. The oak construction ages beautifully, developing that patina that only comes from daily use and quality materials. What's refreshing is how it doesn't try to reinvent dining tables - it just executes the fundamentals extremely well. The proportions feel exactly right for how people actually use dining tables - not so massive that it dominates smaller spaces, but substantial enough that it doesn't wobble when someone leans on it or reaches across for something. The craftsmanship shows up in details like how smooth the surfaces are and how the joints fit together without gaps or wobbles that develop over time. Magnus Pettersen clearly spent time thinking about how this thing would hold up to years of family dinners, homework sessions, and all the other ways dining tables get used beyond just eating. The honest construction means if something does go wrong down the line, you can actually see what needs fixing instead of dealing with some mystery mechanism hidden inside fake wood. Woud keeps attracting designers who understand that good furniture should get better with age rather than just looking good in showrooms. Their collaboration with Magnus Pettersen reflects this commitment to creating pieces that become more valuable over time through use and care rather than depreciating like most manufactured goods. The brand emerged from Mia and Torben Koed's three decades in furniture manufacturing, and they've built their reputation on finding designers who share their belief that exceptional materials and honest construction create furniture worth keeping for generations rather than replacing when trends change.
