This is not your typical Kenyan coffee; it is dynamic with sweetness and acidity that dance together nicely. The Tegu Factory (“Tegu” meaning “low place” - referencing its geographical location in the foothills between Mount Kenya and the Aberdare Range) is located near the town of Karatina in the Nyeri Region. 1200 smallholder farms (most with less than 1 hectare of land to grow on) provide their coffee to this washing station. Once received, the coffee undergoes meticulous sorting and then follows the fully washed process. The coffee is fermented for 12-16 hours then dried on raised beds for 7-15 days. Why I picked this coffee: There's a real playfulness in this coffee. At lighter roasts it shines with a unique acidity that interacts beautifully with the sweetness. Bright, high-clarity; with something to keep you engaged throughout the duration of the cup. Roast Level: Light
