Kelp Forest Sun Suit

A soft, stretchy, and resilient long-sleeve suit that blocks over 98% of harmful UVA and UVB radiation from the sun (UPF 50+, the highest rating achievable) and protects you from stinging critters. Kelps represent the largest species of algae in the world, with some, like the giant kelp, exceeding 100 feet (30 meters) in length. Giant kelp is also one of the fastest-growing organisms in the ocean, growing up to 2 ft per day! Gas-filled bladders beneath the kelp’s blades, called pneumatocysts, float the kelp towards the water’s surface, while the holdfasts keep them anchored in place, creating the iconic forest-like appearance. 5% of sales will be donated to the Smith Seaweed Ecology Lab at UC San Diego’s Scripps Institution of Oceanography to support their work on kelp forest ecology and restoration. We use synthetic yarns made from recycled plastic bottles, which helps remove and repurpose existing plastic. Learn more about our environmental impact and manufacturing here, and our materials here.
