Keith Haring Subway Chalk Drawing Original

KEITH HARING Alien Robot | Original Subway Chalk Drawing New York City, 1983 Authenticated as an original Keith Haring subway chalk drawing by a leading expert at NewYorkArt.com, Alien Robotrepresents a remarkable chapter in the history of contemporary art and one of the most recognizable artistic movements to emerge from New York City. During the 1980s, Haring transformed the New York City subway system into his personal canvas. Working on black paper panels installed over expired advertising posters, he created spontaneous chalk drawings that brought art directly to the public. His process was as extraordinary as the work itself: stepping off a subway train, completing a drawing in the brief moments before the doors closed, and disappearing back into the rhythm of the city. Haring is estimated to have created approximately 3,000 subway chalk drawings. Of these, only an estimated 400 survived as complete, fully bordered rectangular compositions. Alien Robot is presented as one of these rare surviving examples, preserving the original format and immediacy of Haring's celebrated subway series. The work's imagery carries a striking contemporary resonance. At a time when artificial intelligence, robotics, and the possibility of extraterrestrial life occupy an increasingly prominent place in public consciousness, Alien Robot invites viewers to consider humanity's evolving relationship with technology, the unknown, and the future of civilization. Created decades before today's technological revolution, the drawing offers a compelling intersection of art, imagination, and cultural foresight. Through Haring's unmistakable visual language, Alien Robot transcends its origins as a fleeting subway intervention to become an enduring reflection on humanity's place in an ever-changing world. A rare surviving work from Keith Haring's iconic New York City subway era, Alien Robot embodies the artist's extraordinary ability to transform an ordinary public space into a canvas for ideas that continue to resonate across generations. ***Notice the movie poster our expert pulled off the back of the drawing, 1982 when "Lonely Lady" debuted in Manhattan. The piece was created in 1983, hence the 83' in the work shortly after the movie closed.) *** Notice the Anarchy sign which was double taped by a punker int he 80s, this was done in enamel pen as the rest is clearly chalk, this is also an important definition of its authenticity due to the rising punk scene in the 80s in Manhattan. There is a COA and provenance of ownership which is included with the work AS WELL AS TWO SEPARATE FRAMES OF THE MOVIE POSTER "LONELY LADY" 1982.
