A regular water pump chokes on the first handful of leaves. The Kärcher WWP 80 — sold by Landa as the Sludge Slinger — is a true trash pump: it swallows sticks, leaves, gravel and mud up to 1 inch across and keeps moving 22,200 gallons an hour, roughly 370 gallons a minute. That is a full swimming pool in under an hour, a flooded basement in minutes, and a construction trench kept dry all day on a gallon and a half of gas. Passes 1″ solids Leaves, twigs, small stones and silt go straight through the aluminum impeller. Nothing is ground up, nothing jams. 22,200 gallons an hour Full 3″ inlet and 3″ outlet, 95 feet of total head and 38 PSI — enough to push uphill and out to the street. 26-foot suction lift The pump can sit up on the bank and still pull water 26 feet below it. You are not wading in to place it. Honda GX270 8.4 HP commercial Honda, recoil start. Parts and service at any small-engine shop in the country. Roll frame, 150 lbs Painted steel cage on rubber isolation pads. Two people lift it, it rides in a truck bed, and it doesn’t walk across the ground while it runs. Strainer in the box The 1″ solids strainer that protects the impeller ships with the pump, along with both hose barbs and locknuts. The number that decides it Trash pumps are chosen on solids size, not on gallons. A clean-water pump moves plenty of water right up until a leaf reaches the impeller. The WWP 80 is rated to pass a 1-inch solid, which covers almost everything that ends up in flood water, a sump, a retention pond or an open trench. What it is built for Flooded basements and crawl spaces — standing water with whatever the water carried in with it. Construction dewatering — keeping a footing, trench or excavation dry through a pour. Pools, ponds and retention basins — drain-downs and clean-outs where a garden pump would clog in five minutes. Storm and flood response — municipal, restoration and disaster-recovery crews who need volume the moment they arrive. Farm, quarry and site water — muddy water, silt and grit that would destroy a clean-water pump. Clear or cloudy water only Kärcher’s warranty covers this pump for clear water and dirty water. It does not cover chemicals, fertilizer or salt water — those corrode the aluminum pump body and shorten its life, and running them voids the warranty. If you pump anything you are unsure about, flush the pump through with clean water afterward. Do I need a trash pump, or will a wet/dry vacuum do? It comes down to how much water and how far. A Kärcher NT 68/1 wet/dry vacuum holds 18 gallons and is the right tool indoors — a wet floor, a leaking water heater, a job where you are working around furniture. The WWP 80 moves that same 18 gallons in about three seconds and keeps going all day. If the water is measured in inches across a whole floor, or it has mud and debris in it, you want the pump. Why do some listings say the suction lift is 88 feet? Because two different numbers get mixed up. 26 feet is the suction lift — how far below the pump the water can be. 88 feet is the longest discharge hose Kärcher allows on the outlet side. Going past either one costs you flow and can stop the pump priming at all. Does it prime itself? Not from dry. Every centrifugal trash pump needs the pump housing filled with water before the first start — there is a flooding cap on top for exactly that. Fill it, start the engine, and it pulls its own prime from there. Skipping this is the most common reason a brand new pump “won’t pump,” and running it dry will wreck the seal. Can it pump sewage or septic? No. This is a trash pump for water carrying solids — leaves, sticks, silt, gravel. It is not a solids-handling sewage pump, and Kärcher’s warranty covers clear and dirty water only. Chemicals, fertilizer and salt water are all out. How long does a tank of gas last? The Honda GX270 holds 1.4 gallons. Under a normal dewatering load that is a few hours of running — enough to empty most pools, basements and ponds without stopping. Shut it down and let it cool before refueling. Will it run all day on a job site? Yes. The Honda GX270 is a commercial engine, the pump body and impeller are cast aluminum, and the roll frame sits on rubber pads so the machine does not shake itself apart. This is a rental-fleet and contractor-duty pump, not a homeowner special. Do you carry replacement parts? We can get the whole Kärcher parts list for this pump — strainer, hose barbs, impeller, seals, gaskets. Call or text 888-565-6163 with the part you need and we will price it. If the problem is simply get this water out of here, the WWP 80 is the tool and nothing else comes close on volume. If the problem is where the water is allowed to go — pressure washing a lot, a fleet or a grease pad where the runoff cannot reach a storm drain — you need the Mississippi instead. The WWP 80 sits in our water recovery systems section, alongside the rest of our commercial cleaning equipment. If the job is washing rather than moving water, look at the Kärcher pressure washers; if it is water pickup indoors, the commercial wet/dry vacuums are the better tool.
