Ishika Reversible Kantha Coat One of a Kind

Our Ishika Kantha Coat is a soulful expression of color, memory, and quiet artistry, a true heirloom piece stitched with history and heart. Handcrafted in Bengal, India by female artisans, this one-of-a-kind coat is born from traditional Kantha quilts, where layers of vintage cotton are hand-stitched by women artisans to give worn textiles new life. Kantha is one of India’s oldest forms of embroidery, rooted in sustainability, resilience, and storytelling, with each stitch carrying generations of lived experience passed from mother to daughter. On one side, Ishika unfolds in rich, grounding shades of mossy green, scattered with soft ivory floral motifs and rhythmic dotted patterns that feel almost meditative. Subtle accents of warm saffron and hints of ochre appear like unexpected brushstrokes, adding depth and quiet vibrancy. Turn the coat inside out, and an entirely different story emerges — earthy reds, muted rust, and faded clay tones layered with intricate block-printed patterns, evoking sun-washed village walls, terracotta soil, and the warmth of Indian afternoons. Two distinct moods, one beautiful garment, truly two coats in one. This is why our Kantha coats are so special: no two are ever alike. Jean Marie personally selected the original vintage quilt that made this coat, for its balance of color, texture, and soul, honoring the life it had already lived before being carefully reimagined into the Ishika Coat. It’s the piece you reach for on a long flight, drape over your shoulders on cool evenings, or throw on over anything to instantly feel collected and effortless. Designed with generous pockets on both sides (because beauty should always be practical), it’s meant to be lived in, traveled with, and loved deeply. At Pax Philomena, Kantha holds a very personal place in our hearts. Each coat is chosen not just for how it looks, but for how it feels, its warmth, its story, its quiet strength. When you wear our Ishika kantha, you carry forward the hands, histories, and enduring spirit of the women who stitched it, and the thoughtful eye that gave it new life. A timeless companion. A wearable story. A piece you will never see again, and never want to part with. Length: 44.5" Mid Weight  One size  100% repurposed Kantha fabric Made in India  Dry cleaning is recommended
