Kangling (Resin, 13" Length)

This resin kangling is a modern alternative to the traditional human thigh bone kangling, used primarily in Chöd practice for summoning spirits and cutting through ego. While bone kanglings are still available in certain regions like Bhutan, Nepal, and India, there are ethical concerns regarding their sourcing. As a more accessible and responsible option, many practitioners and lamas are turning to resin or wooden kanglings, which offer ease of use without compromising the integrity of the practice. Symbolism & Meaning The kangling represents the embodiment of impermanence and the transient nature of all things. Traditionally made from human bone, it symbolizes the practitioner’s confrontation with death and ego, integral to the Chöd ritual, where the practitioner offers their body in symbolic union with wisdom and compassion.
