Kai 4 1/4" Professional Scissors

Kai 4 1/4" Professional Scissors KAI 7100 — 4¼" Professional Scissors (Fly-Tying Edition) Micro-accurate. Feather-light. Scary sharp. The KAI 7100 is our shop’s go-to “desk scalpel” for tying benches. At just 4¼" with a fine, tapered tip and high-carbon stainless blades, it slices cleanly through everything from 14/0 thread and CDC stems to flash, foam, and even heavy mono tags—without walking the material or fraying the cut. The soft Elastomer handles give you confident control for tight, precise snips when you’re finishing heads or trimming deer hair. As the smallest scissor in KAI’s 7000 Series, the 7100 is purpose-built for detail work—aka fly tying. Why tiers love it • Hard, long-wearing edge — High-carbon (molybdenum/vanadium) stainless steel holds a keen edge and powers through light or heavy materials. • Pin-point tip control — Tapered tips make close, flush cuts on thread ribs, CDC, and intruder dubbing loops without nicking your wraps. • Comfortable, non-slip handles — Elastomer grips improve leverage and reduce hand fatigue during marathon sessions. • Featherweight on the bench — Around 0.8 oz, so they maneuver effortlessly for rapid trim-and-place work. Specs • Overall length: 4¼" • Cut length: ~1⅝" • Blade steel: High-carbon stainless (molybdenum/vanadium), approx. HRC 60 • Handles: Soft Elastomer • Weight: ~0.8 oz Bench notes • Keep one pair “thread-only” to preserve the edge; use a second pair for wire, brush, or heavy mono. • A light wipe and occasional drop of oil at the pivot keeps that silky KAI action. Bottom line If you want one pair of scissors that handles 90% of fly-tying cuts with clean, confident precision, the KAI 7100 is it—premium performance without the premium price.
