CoQ10 for Dogs

CoQ10 for Dogs - 30 mg K9 Select CoQ10 for Dogs - 60 capsules CoenzymeQ10 (CoQ10) is also known as ubiquinone or ubidecarenone (both of which have the same root word as “ubiquitous” because they are found everywhere in the body—in every cell). CoQ10 is a wonder nutrient having many therapeutic and clinical benefits. Dogs rely on naturally occurring CoQ10 within the body for heart health and cellular energy provision. As dogs age, CoQ10 production decreases. Supplementing with CoQ10 can help support cardiovascular and periodontal health in canines. It can also provide antioxidants, support the immune system, and support blood sugar balance.** CoQ10 is naturally produced in the liver. This compound supports cellular growth and energy. Coenzyme Q10 can help promote immune function and support cardiovascular and gum health while contributing to healthy, normal circulation in the body. CoQ10 is also a potent antioxidant. ** Why it is required by the body? It is produced internally in every animal’s body. It is an essential component of the mitochondria (which are the parts of the cell that generate energy from oxygen). It is also used in aerobic cellular respiration and facilitates electron transport chain (a complex chemical process that, if oxygen is present, both generates and stores energy). That’s why it has special importance for the organs that use large amounts of oxygen, including, especially, the heart, brain, liver and kidney. It is also a major antioxidant as it has the ability to bind with oxygen and other oxidizing compounds. Therapeutic and clinical uses: Due to its potential usefulness to support the function of the heart, CoQ10 deficiency in the body has been shown to increase incidence of heart disease. That’s why it has been used in pets to treat heart diseases for many years. Further read here. And here. And here. Pets with chronic heart disease and heart failure may especially benefit from CoQ10. It has even been shown to produce synergies with conventional cardiac medications in treating heart muscle abnormality. Further read here. CoQ10 is also an intercellular antioxidant that may detoxify an animal’s body (including within the cells themselves) of the harmful free radicals that can cause cell damage and lead to the formation of tumorous growth and chronic inflammatory changes in body. Moreover, CoQ10 even has the ability to recycle and regenerate other antioxidants within the body like tocopherol and ascorbic acid. Further read here. The following are some further health benefits of CoQ10: For use in treating periodontal diseases (gingivitis and periodontitis). Further read here. It may be effective in treatment of migraines. Further read here. For treatment of fatigue. Further read here. And here.   As an immune system booster. Further read here. A quick google search or a search on one of the medical sites such as WedMD or Mayo will turn up many more benefits and potential benefits. Supplementation in aging and diseased animal: Unfortunately, as the animal’s need for CoQ10 increases with age or due to disease, the natural amount of CoQ10 in the body declines. This is due to the double pressures of reduced biosynthesis and increased demand by the body. To overcome this age or disease-induced deficiency, oral supplementation of CoQ10 is recommended. CoQ10 is well tolerated, has no reportable side effects and is very safe to use under veterinary supervision. It is sold as a dietary supplement in the U.S. As with nearly all dietary supplements, it is not approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
