Philippians 4:6 says, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.” Many of life’s problems feel complicated, and beyond our capacity to fix. That’s because we’re not meant to carry the world on our shoulders…that’s what God is for. Gather your whole heap of troubles and hand them over to the Lord in prayer. It’s a beautiful way to live life. When a friend or neighbor tells you what’s on their mind, resist the urge to fix it for them with well-meaning advice. Instead, offer the very best help you can in their time of need: prayer. Pray for them right then and there, and let them know you will continue to pray over their situation. This is a wonderful way to introduce them to your faith, and open the door to sharing the Good News.
