Spreading Juniper (Juniperus chinensis Hetzii Glauca)

Juniperus chinensis ‘Hetzii Glauca’, commonly known as Spreading Juniper, is a non-native evergreen conifer grown for its broad, fountain-like habit and blue-green to silvery blue foliage. The species Juniperus chinensis is native to China, Japan, Mongolia, and the Himalayas, and ‘Hetzii Glauca’ is a cultivated landscape selection. This cultivar typically grows about 5 to 7 feet tall and 8 to 10 feet wide, forming an upward-spreading shrub with dense branching. Its foliage is attractive throughout the year, and it is commonly used where durable evergreen structure is needed in the landscape. This shrub grows best in full sun and prefers well-drained soils. It tolerates a wide range of soils, including clay, but does not perform well in wet soils and is drought tolerant once established.
