Juicy Jungle

Kenny Scharf - Juicy Jungle “Juicy Jungle” (1988) by Kenny Scharf is a silkscreen print on paper, measuring 86.3×100.3 cm, produced in a limited edition of 150 pieces. The work fits perfectly into the artist's distinctive style, characterised by a surrealist pop aesthetic and the influence of street art and psychedelic culture. The composition presents a fantastic and surreal jungle, populated by anthropomorphic creatures and animated organic forms. Trees and plants transform into living beings with smiling faces or astonished expressions, while vegetation elements intertwine in a tangle of brightly coloured branches and lianas. The deep green background creates a vibrant contrast with the orange, purple and red tones, emphasising the visual energy of the work. The graphic style recalls the aesthetics of cartoons and pop culture, with fluid lines and accentuated volumes giving the image a sense of dynamic movement. The surreal and dreamlike elements, typical of Scharf's work, transform the jungle into a psychedelic and playful environment, evoking a fusion of the natural and fantasy worlds. “Juicy Jungle” perfectly represents Scharf's artistic language, based on unbridled imagination and a bold colour palette, conveying a sense of fun and vitality, but also a subtle critique of consumerist society through his ironic and playful style.
