Johnson Wax Building Planter Large by Frank Lloyd Wright

Architectural in both spirit and scale, the large Johnson Wax Building Planter by Frank Lloyd Wright brings the bold innovation of one of his most celebrated designs into the landscape. Inspired by the iconic Johnson Wax Administration Building in Racine, Wisconsin, this planter reflects a period in Wright’s career where modern design, engineering, and artistry came together in groundbreaking ways. Its distinctive horizontal banding wraps the form in a sense of motion and continuity, echoing the flowing lines found throughout the Johnson Wax complex. The shape subtly widens toward the top, creating a visual lift that feels both grounded and weightless although weighing in at 1300 pounds —an effect reminiscent of Wright’s famous dendriform columns, often compared to lily pads, which seem to defy gravity while providing immense structural support. At an impressive 48 inches wide and 32 inches high, this planter is designed to make an impact. Its generous capacity accommodates bold, layered plantings, making it ideal for grand entrances, estate gardens, or commercial settings where scale and presence matter. Even in large open spaces, it holds its own as a sculptural focal point, blending seamlessly into both modern and traditional environments. Crafted in America using advanced dry-cast stone techniques, this piece offers exceptional durability and resilience. It captures the texture and character of carved stone while providing superior resistance to weather and wear. Over time, the surface naturally develops a soft patina, enhancing its depth and authenticity. Available in a range of finish options, this planter can be tailored to complement its surroundings.
