John Boos Rustica Maple – 4" End-Grain Work Table with Drawers & Optional Shelf

John Boos Rustica – 4" End-Grain Maple Table (Optional Shelf) The Rustica in Maple unites chef-grade performance with heirloom charm: a 4-inch end-grain Northern Hard Rock Maple top above a tailored base with dovetailed drawers and an optional solid maple shelf. Handcrafted in the USA and conditioned with Boos Block Cream (beeswax formula), it’s designed for daily cooking and a lifetime of admiration. A Maple Worktop That Heals as You Use It This is true end-grain maple—the wood fibers stand upright to accept the blade, then gently relax, softening shallow marks over time. The checkerboard pattern is as practical as it is beautiful: prep on it daily, and enjoy how the surface develops a subtle, satin patina. Knife-kind: resilient fibers help preserve edge sharpness. Clean, timeless look: maple’s light, neutral tone flatters any kitchen palette. Patina with purpose: tiny marks mellow into character, not wear. Four Inches of Quiet Strength A substantial 4"-thick top steadies your rhythm—rolling pastry, kneading dough, chopping herbs, carving roasts—while dampening sound. The 3/8" beveled edges (45°) soften the silhouette and feel good where hands meet wood. Rock-solid feel: mass that stays put under real work. Quieter prep: impact is absorbed, not echoed. Serve in style: handsome enough to go straight from cooktop to table. Dress the Base to Match Your Story Set the mood with painted or stained finishes that harmonize with cabinetry and fixtures. At a comfortable 34.5" working height, Rustica blends as easily into an open kitchen as it does a welcoming entry. Light neutrals: bright, airy, and timeless. Deep tones: bold contrast that highlights the maple top. Warm stains: a furniture-first look that ties rooms together. Color appearance varies by monitor and lighting; use swatches as close approximations. Hidden Helpers: Drawers and an Optional Shelf Keep the essentials at hand. The dovetailed drawer(s) organize linens and tools—one on the 30" model, two on the 48". Add the solid maple lower shelf when you want display-worthy storage for cookware or appliances without visual clutter. Smart storage: drawers keep everyday tools within easy reach. Show or stow: shelf holds cookware, baskets, and décor with room to breathe. Simple upkeep: wipe clean; condition the top regularly for lasting luster.
