John Boos Gathering Block Maple – 4" End-Grain Butcher Block Kitchen Island with Wicker Basket Drawer(s)

John Boos Gathering Block – Maple, 4" End-Grain Butcher Block with Wicker Basket Drawer(s) The Gathering Block (Maple) pairs chef-grade performance with furniture-level charm: a 4-inch end-grain Northern Hard Rock Maple top, finished in Boos Block Cream (mineral oil + beeswax), set above a tailored base and its signature wicker basket drawer(s). Handcrafted in the USA, it’s compact, commanding, and made for daily use. A Maple Worktop for Daily Rituals This is true end-grain construction—the butcher’s choice. Maple fibers stand upright to welcome your knife, then gently relax, softening shallow marks over time. The checkerboard pattern is practical and beautiful, aging into a warm satin patina. Knife-kind surface: resilient end-grain helps preserve edge sharpness. 4" thickness: substantial mass for stability and sound dampening. Refined feel: 3/8" beveled edges (45°) soften hand-touch points. The Signature Wicker Basket (or Three) A woven wicker basket drawer slides out smoothly to keep produce, linens, or utensils close at hand. Larger sizes include two or three baskets, adding texture, warmth, and quietly clever storage to your kitchen. Breathable storage: great for fruits, towels, or everyday tools. Beautiful contrast: wicker’s texture complements maple’s grain. Sized for essentials: generous capacity without visual clutter. Dress the Base to Match Your Space Choose from nine painted and stained finishes—quiet neutrals, deep tones, or warm stains—to harmonize with cabinetry and lighting. At a working height of 36", Gathering Block fits comfortably in kitchens large and small. Flexible palette: paint or stain options for any décor. Compact footprint: easy to place; visually substantial. Subtle character: a lightly distressed base lets natural grain peek through. Note: Distressed finish—natural grain variations show through. Color may vary by monitor and lighting.
