John Alexander Dowie

Gordon Lindsay̻s portrait of healing revivalist John Alexander Dowie reveals his life, mission, and impact on Christianity today. Some believe that Dr. Dowie could have done no wrong; others believe that he was a charlatan and a deceiver. Neither view is correct. God raised up John Alexander Dowie for a specific work: to reintroduce Divine healing to the Church. People traveled by ship from other nations to experience the messages of deliverance and healing. John Alexander Dowie was a reformer who fought against the greatest odds, single-handedly challenging the apostasy of the early 20th century. He succeeded in bringing to the Church̻s attention the Gospel̻s message of healing and deliverance for the whole man, body and soul. He succeeded in bringing to the world̻s attention the great truth that Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever.
