Joerns Healthcare DolphinCare™ Integrated Fluid Immersion Simulation Bed System

DolphinCare Fluid Immersion Simulation FIS Integrated Bed System by Joerns Healthcare The DolphinCare Integrated Bed System by Joerns Medical Equipment is a comprehensive wound care and patient safety solution, combining advanced Fluid Immersion Simulation (FIS) therapy with a fully integrated bed frame and control system. This all-in-one system includes the Joerns UltraCare XT bed frame, available in both a 35-inch and UltraWide 42-inch option, a 10-inch thick Dolphin mattress, control unit, assist rails, and quartered oak bed panels, all designed to work seamlessly together for maximum comfort, pressure injury prevention, and ease of use. With its UltraWide 42-inch design, this system offers 37% more fall protection than standard hospital beds, while the low 7-inch height reduces injury risks. The QuickCare function enables fast, stable bed height adjustments, making caregiving more efficient and effortless. Ideal for patients at high risk of pressure injuries, the DolphinCare System delivers advanced wound prevention, safety, and adaptability in one complete package. FIS Advanced Pressure Relief for Better Healing The Fluid Immersion Simulation (FIS) helps prevent and heal pressure ulcers by reducing pressure on the skin. It works by evenly distributing body weight, which minimizes stress on soft tissues and improves blood flow. This helps keep the skin healthy and speeds up healing by reducing the risk of damage caused by constant pressure. Promoting Dignity and a Healing Environment DolphinCare also enhances patient dignity and comfort by reducing the institutional feel of a traditional hospital bed. The system helps maintain a comfortable room environment while preventing moisture loss, which can lead to dehydration and slow wound healing. Whether in a hospital, long-term care facility, or home setting, DolphinCare provides optimal support for at-risk patients, ensuring they receive the best possible care and recovery experience. Benefits Prevents Pressure Injuries DolphinCare helps prevent pressure injuries and speeds up wound healing by simulating a fluid environment. It automatically adjusts to the patient’s weight, size, and movement, reducing pressure on tissues, improving blood flow, and enhancing oxygen delivery for faster recovery. Enhances Patient Comfort A study across 12 hospitals found that Dolphin FIS improved patient comfort, even for those without pressure injuries. Staff noted reduced family anxiety about patient well-being and better quality of life for end-of-life care. The system also helps regulate temperature and moisture, preventing discomfort from warmth and dehydration. Supports Mobility & Independence DolphinCare provides a stable surface that helps patients move and reposition themselves more easily. Unlike traditional low air loss systems, it adjusts air levels only when needed, creating a steady platform for safer transfers and greater independence during bed entry and exit.     Included with DolphinCare Integrated Bed System   DolphinCare 35” x 82” Integrated Bed System UCXT Standard Bed Frame (35” x 80”) UltraLock System at Head & Foot for added stability Grounded Electrical System for safety Advanced Staff Controls for easy adjustments Traditional Laminate Bed Panels (Quartered Oak/Sand Edge) Two Assist Handles for support and repositioning Dolphin Mattress (35” x 80” x 10”) with Fluid Immersion Simulation® technology DolphinCare Control Unit for automatic pressure adjustments DolphinCare 42” x 82” Integrated Bed System UCXT Standard Bed Frame (42” x 80”) UltraLock System at Head & Foot for added stability Grounded Electrical System for safety Advanced Staff Controls for easy adjustments Traditional Laminate Bed Panels (Quartered Oak/Sand Edge) Two Assist Handles for support and repositioning Dolphin Mattress (42” x 80” x 10”) with Fluid Immersion Simulation® technology DolphinCare Control Unit for automatic pressure adjustments   Key Features Prevents and treats wounds by simulating immersion of the patient in a fluid medium Minimizes soft tissue deformation and maintains near normal blood flow Automatically adjusts to each patient’s weight, surface area and repositioning FIS therapy spans the entire therapy surface of DolphinCare, limiting potential for pressure gradients due to edge effects UltraWide 42” expanded with reduces fall risk by up to 37% as compared to 35” wide beds Comfort Chair functionality improves comfort, relaxation, circulation and enables a patient to sit without transferring to a chair Gravity-Assist enables easier and safer patient repositioning Auto-Transfer automatically positions the bed at the optimum egress height.   Clinical Indications Prevention and healing of pressure injuries through Stage 4 Post-operative flaps and grafts Medical conditions that hinder effective turning and repositioning Interventions may be contraindicated as they place the patient at risk for further compromise Spinal cord injury once the acute injury has been stabilized and a physician has cleared the patient Specifications Specifications Safe Working Load 500 lbs.
