Jewelry Box Locks are a great size for small boxes, silver chests and game cases. This lock is well made with a dependable lever mechanism.  The quality is evident. Key has decorative shape. These are half mortise type locks for lift lid furniture. This quality lock has a brass face plate, box and strike. Once installed, lock is fitted into a partial cut out in box interior. Strike attaches underneath surface of lid. When lid is closed, strike drops down into lock. Key turns two lever mechanism to secure lid providing a higher level of security than cheaper versions. Once in place, lock is hidden from exterior view. Made in England. The backset measurement is necessary if selecting a replacement lock: If you have original lock: measure distance between top edge of lock to lock pin in center of keyhole. This measurement is known as the backset. If original lock is not available, determine backset by measuring: distance from center of keyhole (where lock pin will be) to top edge of box. The replacement lock's backset measurement must match location of keyhole in furniture.
