These would include fabrics like wool suiting, canvas, denim, linen, cotton corduroy and cotton poplin. When using sturdier fabrics, we recommend using a lighter weight lining fabric, or omitting it all together and following the sewing instructions for an unlined garment. Thinner fabrics or fabrics with more drape are also suitable; however, these fabrics can be more difficult to sew. Keep this in mind when choosing your fabric. For thinner fabrics, consider silk, satin, light weight cotton, and seersucker. In this case, we highly recommend using a lining with a similar weight to your main fabric to ensure that the fabrics drape well on top of each other.
