Japanese Rice Lager Extract Beer Recipe Kit

Japanese Rice Lager Beer Kit Clean, crisp, and endlessly crushable—our Japanese Rice Lager Extract Kit delivers the kind of ultra-dry refreshment that defines warm-weather brewing. Inspired by modern American interpretations of a refined classic, it’s built on a delicately balanced base of Pilsen malt extract and rice syrup solids—keeping the body lean and the finish bone dry. While traditional Japanese lagers focus on restraint, we add just a whisper of modern flair with late hopping from Sorachi Ace, a citrus-herbal hop originally bred by Sapporo. It adds subtle lemon peel and lemongrass character without overwhelming the beer’s refreshing clarity. Saaz hops provide clean bitterness to round things out. This is a study in minimalist design with maximum impact—perfect for backyards, sunshine, and second pours. More About Japanese Rice Lagers: Japanese rice lagers are globally loved for their light body, crisp character, and signature dry finish—an elegant evolution of European pilsners influenced by native ingredients and brewing sensibilities. Typically brewed with a large percentage of rice to keep the body light and the profile dry, these lagers showcase simplicity and technical precision. While traditional versions use little to no aroma hops, modern American interpretations—like this kit—add a touch of Sorachi Ace to elevate the flavor profile. This hop was originally developed by Sapporo in 1984 but never fully embraced in Japan due to its boldness. It has since gained cult status among craft brewers in the U.S., prized for its high biotransformation potential and layered citrus-herbal aromatics.
